Dad let’s me blog slow on the internet. But not on Monday, definitely not on Monday.
I guess you can’t put much faith in online quizzes…
After reading this post on Steve Pavlina’s blog, I decided I would take the Autism Quotient test myself. While I’m answering the questions, I’m thinking, “Hmmm I bet I won’t score very high at all.” So you can imagine my surprise when I’m done and my score is thirty.
Yes, thirty. Three-Zero
I began learning guitar a little over two years ago at the tender young age of forty. At this stage in my life, the amount of time I have available for me to spend practicing guitar is in short supply. I also don’t have many opportunities to play with other musicians. For these reasons and the fact that I’m a computer geek, I’m always looking for ways to use my computer to help enhance my music learning experience.
I just read this article about a new product that will allow you to automatically record individual songs off of the radio as mp3’s. Apparently it uses a special algorithm to identify individual songs and record them as seperate mp3’s.
It says here it will transform how I live, work, eat, sleep, etc…
[Update: the teaser page I originally linked to is now the product page]
It doesn’t say what it is.
I hope it’s not another Segway.
It looks like they are exhibiting at the CES. Maybe we will know soon what it is. If you know place a comment, or if you have a guess, place a comment.
Look! Lego is coming out with a new robot kit.
I had their first one (My wife got it for me) but I never did much with it. This one looks about ten times cooler though.
The StroboPick is a small guitar tuner in the form of a guitar pick. Rather than measuring the frequency of the sound your guitar makes, the strobopick is like a miniature strobe light that allows you to see when the string is vibrating at the correct pitch. This allows you to tune extremely accurately and also has the advantage of working in noisy environments
The JamPod is a cool little accessory for you guitar and iPod. It’s a tiny little guitar amplifier that sits on your iPod and allows you to jam with your guitar to music on your iPod through your headphones. I thought this was a fun thing so I pre-ordered one back in March of 2005 for $29.95. The current price of the JamPod is now $39.95.
The problem with signature based virus scanners is that they take a reactive approach to security. Only after a new virus is discovered to signatures become available, so there is always a window of vulnerability. As virii become more sophisticated and propagate faster, this lag becomes more of an issue.
This Report on Robin Good’s blog tells of an Indian company that is planning to release a heuristic virus scanner.
A heuristic virus scanner is one that recognizes virus like behavior rather than depending on signatures. It will be interesting to see if more companies start to take this approach to virus detection in the future.
