It says here it will transform how I live, work, eat, sleep, etc…

[Update: the teaser page I originally linked to is now the product page]

Finally a Heuristic Virus Scanner

January 3rd, 2006 No comments

The problem with signature based virus scanners is that they take a reactive approach to security. Only after a new virus is discovered to signatures become available, so there is always a window of vulnerability. As virii become more sophisticated and propagate faster, this lag becomes more of an issue.

This Report on Robin Good’s blog tells of an Indian company that is planning to release a heuristic virus scanner.

A heuristic virus scanner is one that recognizes virus like behavior rather than depending on signatures. It will be interesting to see if more companies start to take this approach to virus detection in the future.

International House of Tires?

Most chain restaurants are instantly recognizable by their architecture. Some examples are Pizza Hut, KFC, Dunkin Donuts. When new businesses open up shop in these buildings it can produce some rather interesting and humorous results.

You’ll find some great examples here.
